Bank of Cave City Partners with Cave City Fire Department and Arkansas Weather Watchers to Launch SkyCam

CAVE CITY, AR — The Bank of Cave City announced today the installation of a new SkyCam in Cave City, made possible through a collaborative effort between the Cave City Fire Department, Cave City School District, the City of Cave City, Stanley Electric, and Arkansas Weather Watchers. Sponsored by Bank of Cave City, this advanced weather camera will provide real-time visual monitoring of the skies, enhancing storm awareness and emergency response capabilities for the entire area.

This initiative represents a shared commitment to safety, preparedness, and partnership. The Cave City Fire Department, which played a critical role in the aftermath of the EF3 tornado that struck on March 14, will now have access to a powerful tool to help anticipate and respond to severe weather threats. With over 50 homes, 20 businesses, and vital infrastructure—including both fire stations—damaged or destroyed, the need for proactive emergency support has never been more evident.

Radar coverage in rural areas like Cave City is often limited due to terrain and distance from major radar sites in Memphis and Little Rock, both over 120 miles away. The new SkyCam helps bridge that gap. Arkansas Weather Watchers and the Cave City Fire Department will manage and maintain the camera under normal conditions. In the event of a weather emergency, the National Weather Service will take control to provide timely alerts and life-saving information to the public.

The live camera feed will be publicly accessible on the Bank of Cave City, City of Cave City, Cave City School District, and Arkansas Weather Watchers websites, allowing residents to monitor weather conditions in real time and stay informed during severe weather events.

“This SkyCam gives us a critical set of eyes on the sky,” said Chief Billy Penn. “In rural areas like ours, every second counts. Having real-time visuals helps us respond faster, warn earlier, and protect more lives. We’re grateful to the Bank of Cave City and all our community partners for making this possible.”

“This SkyCam is more than a piece of equipment,” said Crystal Crow, Marketing Director at Bank of Cave City. “It’s a symbol of how we move forward together—prepared, connected, and committed to each other. It’s also a way to equip our fire department with the tools they need to stay on top of their game and keep our community safe.  Bank of Cave City is honored to stand alongside our local heroes and weather partners in this effort. Together, we’re building a safer, empowered Cave City.”
